Black Honors College
Discovery Pathways
The Theme Community allows Black Honors College
Scholars to share an intellectual and residential experience
with an academic focus on Black history, life, culture, and
contributions. The Scholars will engage in co-curricular
and social programming facilitated by BHC faculty,
staff, and community members who will lead lectures,
seminars, and discussions on economic empowerment, selfdetermination, and courageous leadership. BHC scholars
will forge bonds with and learn from community of other
students with similar experiences to enhance success in the
college.
The Discovery Pathways Living Learning Community creates an
environment for students who have not selected a specific major at
Sacramento State. The living learning community will provide students
with opportunities to explore academic interests while enhancing their
college experience. Students in this community will have the opportunity
to network and engage with community members across campus.
Business
Education
The Education Living-Learning Community (LLC) is designed to support
students pursuing careers in education, human development, and
community work by deepening their understanding of child and adolescent
learning, growth, and well-being across diverse settings. Grounded in
developmental theory, empirical research, and ethical practice, this
program fosters holistic insight into biological, cognitive, socio-emotional,
and cultural influences on development from birth through emerging
adulthood. Students in the Education LLC will engage collaboratively in
reflective, inclusive, and evidence-based learning that prepares them to
work as agents of positive change in classrooms, families, communities,
and policy contexts.
The Business Living Learning Community (LLC) connects
first-year business students through shared coursework, inhall advising, and professional development opportunities.
Students live together in a supportive residential environment
that integrates classroom learning with real-world business
experiences. Through collaboration with faculty, academic
advisors, and peer mentors, participants gain early exposure
to the world of business, develop essential academic and
professional skills, and form a network that supports success Engineering and Computer Science

Health Sciences
Lavender Floor
Health Sciences Living–Learning Community (LLC) is a residential experience
designed for students interested in careers that promote health, well-being,
and social impact in diverse communities. This community integrates
academic learning, co-curricular engagement, and residential life to support
students’ personal, professional, and civic development. Students in the
LLC live together in a supportive environment that emphasizes well-being,
service, leadership, and professional identity development. Through faculty
engagement, themed programming, community service opportunities, and
peer-to-peer learning, residents explore how health and human services
intersect with policy, equity, and community needs.
The Lavender Floor aims to be a safe and inclusive space for
students to build community around a variety of gender and
sexual identities. Students living in this community will be
supported through intentional programming, connections,
and resources alongside the PRIDE Center at Sacramento
State. This community has both gendered and genderneutral restrooms.
